Verification basics

How healthcare discount verification works

A plain-language guide to the systems merchants use to confirm professional status, what PerkRounds does, and what to check when a verification attempt fails.

Start on the merchant's official offer page

Professional verification is tied to a specific merchant offer. The merchant decides which professions qualify, which verification company runs the check, and what proof may be requested. A verification account by itself does not make every offer available.

PerkRounds links to the merchant's official offer or program page. It does not run the verification, collect identity documents, or decide whether someone qualifies.

How ID.me medical verification is structured

ID.me maintains a medical community with a published list of eligible occupations. For U.S. medical verification, its current instructions offer an NPI path for people who have one and a document path for people who do not. The form asks the user to select an occupation before entering an NPI or uploading proof.

ID.me lists an employment ID card, a medical license or certificate, and a signed employment letter on official letterhead as examples of medical-status proof. The document needs to show the person's first and last name and job title. The exact retailer still controls access to its offer.

How SheerID medical verification is structured

SheerID does not provide a general medical verification that a shopper completes on SheerID's main website. It powers verification for individual brands. A shopper begins inside the brand's offer flow.

SheerID's medical FAQ says brands can limit an offer to selected parts of the healthcare community. If a document is requested, the current guidance calls for official proof showing the person's name and current medical affiliation. That may be a current work ID, a recent pay statement, or a valid credential, depending on the flow.

Where GOVX fits

GOVX serves several public-service communities, including emergency medical personnel. GOVX ID can also appear inside a participating merchant's checkout flow. That does not mean every healthcare profession is eligible for every GOVX offer.

Follow the occupation choices and terms shown for the specific GOVX or merchant offer. A profession that qualifies for one program may not qualify for another.

Why a verification attempt may fail

A failed check does not always mean the profession is excluded. The selected category may be wrong, the submitted document may not show the required job title, or the person's name may not match the licensing or employment record used by the provider.

  • Read the merchant's eligibility language before starting.
  • Choose the occupation shown in the verification form instead of the closest general category.
  • Use a current document that clearly shows the required name, role, and organization or credential.
  • Use the verification provider's support path if the official record is correct but the automated check still fails.

What PerkRounds can see

PerkRounds can record that a visitor opened an offer link or reported that an offer worked. It does not see the information entered into ID.me, SheerID, GOVX, or a merchant's verification form. It does not collect names, professional credentials, identity documents, or verification-account passwords.

Common questions

Questions about this verification path

Do I always have to upload a medical license or work ID?

No. Some flows can use an NPI, licensing data, or another record first. A document may be requested when an automatic match is unavailable or incomplete. The merchant and verification provider set the exact process.

Can PerkRounds see the documents I submit for verification?

No. Verification happens on the merchant's or verification provider's system. PerkRounds does not collect or store those documents.

Why does the same profession qualify at one merchant but not another?

Each merchant defines the audience for its own offer. The verification provider applies that merchant's rules, so eligibility can differ even when two merchants use the same provider.
